About

Hi — I’m Tabiiku, and I run Kodomo to Tabiiku.

I have an eight-year-old daughter and I work full time. Childhood is short, and I wanted these years to be something I enjoyed too — but more than that, I wanted to give my daughter as many experiences as possible that she would actually remember, and to build up a store of memories together. So we started taking a family trip once a month.

This blog exists to share the places my daughter and I have genuinely enjoyed. Alongside the travel, I write about places to walk in and around Tokyo, products we have found genuinely useful, and my daughter’s education at an international school.

Every review here is written from a stay we actually paid for and took. That includes the ones that did not go well — I think the honest negatives are more useful to a reader than another glowing write-up.

About me

A full-time working mother in my thirties. I struggled with English myself, which is why I have put so much into my daughter’s bilingual education from an early age.

About my daughter

Eight years old, at an international school, and passionate about going places.
